Hi guys i have a new oscar he is about 20cm ive had him 3 weeks now he is in a 40g tank on his own(he will be moving into 90g when all ok) he developed white spot soon after i got him so have been treating with salt at 1T per 5g built up over a couple of hours. He is a bit off his food but i expected this from change in enviroment, food etc but today he pooped a bright green poop :o ive never seen poop like it and i cant think of anything hes eaten to cause this.Is this something to be concerned about or mabe a stress response?

His water stats are

ph 7.5

Nitrate 5-10

Nitrite 0

Ammonia 0

Temp 25

water changes 25% daily with stable water of same temp with declor added.Fully cycled tank with 1200lph cannister plus air stones.

Diet-all he will eat at the moment is cichlid sticks :-? i try other foods but syphon them out after they remain un eaten.

Up untill recently I had 2 oscars and found they needed regular water changes (which you provide) I fed them on prawns, chicken,ox heart, discus granules, steak and the only time they lost interest and got sick was when the PH dropped.I did 50% water changes weekly and within that 7 days the ph would drop from 7.2 to to 3.4. They were housed in a 950L tank with 8 Bala sharks.

Woah thats quite a drop Jim what caused it to swing like that feeding beef heart etc? I have found large volumes of water to be far more stable my 1000ltr discus tank has virtually no change in ph even if feeding beef heart.

Did your oscars eat all that was offered? did you feed daily?
