phoenix44
so im looking at getting this LCD - pricespy has ETC comps in AKL as the cheapest @ $315, which i dont mind paying.... but i went to do the transfer, and the bank acc# they have provided is incorrect. I suppose i could call them up tomorrow morning, BUT surely someone on here knows someone who sells LCD's cheap? or another place i can get it from at the same price or cheaper? Thanks techies! phoenix44
I got the monitor today... but I have a massive problem! I cannot set the resolution to 1920x1080. the highest i can set it to is 1680x1050, any higher than that and i get the "out of range" error, and i have spent the past 5 hours trying to figure out. from what i have read, it means that the video card (geforce go7300 overclocked) is sending a signal that is to high for the monitor to process - but this is not so. i have tried everything, can any one out there help me please? its driving me crazy! I really don't want to have to buy a new laptop or computer.

phoenix44
i made custom resolutions - 60hz which is standard, then 75 and 100 Hz. no luck. even tried 50 Hz. still gets the same error - tried it on my flatmates laptop which is newer (one of those $3500 dells) and course it worked instantly

Oh, and same color depth? yes and yes =( i cant understand it - all i can think of is the graphic card not liking the hd thing....
Ira
Hmmm, Tried updating the video card drivers? From what I can see that resolution should be well within the video card's ability, but it's not actually putting it out correctly.
phoenix44
ive updated both graphic card and monitor drivers. really sucks... im trying to find a specific driver for the g07300 but all i get is the generic ones - nvidia remove all the older drivers
Ira
The latest detonator drivers, I believe, would work. They don't do card specific ones.
phoenix44
naah, they didnt work either... very disappointed - it shoudlwork but it isnt and there is no real reason for why it isnt working, its terrible.

Ira
I'm waiting until I can get a computer about 10X as fast as my current one for around $1500. Going to be a little while. But, I can still play Fallout3 at a reasonable frame rate so I feel no huge urge to upgrade.

phoenix44
can you really? this is the setup ive decided on - can you do me a deal? AMD Phenom II X4 940 quad core 3.0GHz AM2+ A good MOBO that is compatible - but not too pricey. GeForce 9800 GX2, 1GB PCI-Express Western Digital 640GB SATA 7200rpm hard drive 850 Watt PSU, ATX A case
Zev
A case lol - why don't you just strap it all onto one of your tanks and get rid of the heater?
phoenix44
trust me.. i thought of that. if there were no moving parts, i would have submersed the whole lot in oil, in a fish tank and overclocked the living daylights out of it. sadly as i was told my ideas were not sane, and should be kept in my head. (logic being the voices in my head know me  ). i did see this clear case that i liked - looked like a tank only lacked the swimmingness of fish but with the miracles of science and technology its only a matter of time i suppose ha ha.
