Guest
Also how many people have a pair who raise their own fry? I've heard that most of them eat the eggs and wrigglers if they get to that stage.
phoenix44
they initially eat their eggs. then they start taking care of their young... mine have taken care of their young all the way to adulthood... no fights, no dominance issues etc. i usually let them eat as many batches as they want. then the batch that isnt eaten is usually the strongest batch. Guest
Sweet as, mine hatched last night and I thought they'd eaten the as I saw them when I first turned the light on but when I came back 20 mins later they were gone. I then went to move them out so I could use the tank for my baby panda corys but when I moved them I disturbed all the wrigglers and thought they'd eat them but they picked them up in their mouths and put them back on a rock so I no have 50-80 blue ram wrigglers :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Guest
How should I feed them when they're free swimming? I hyave bbs and micros but I think the parents may eat them before the babies or they won't go near them??
phoenix44
the babies wil get some if you feed them on that... its probably the best food for them too... liquifry for egglayers is also a good food - but you have to buy it. and if you have micro and bbs just use that and see how it goes. you can put the babies in annother tank if you like and rear them in there. Guest
My fry became free swimming today :bounce: :bounce: . I have alot more than I thought I did (100 -200 babies). They're all swimming around the parents who will go and collect them if they go to far from the group. It's sooo cool to watch. I'm going to leave the parents in there and see how good they are at raising them. Is there any advice on what I should do?

Guest
My pair seems to be a good team so far. the glass has a bit of algae on it so I may have wait a while also the parents have gathered all the fry up and put them in a bunch on the rock so I think thats where they'll be sleeping for the night.
