phoenix44
Just thought I'd share a few pics of my favourite clown loach Mr. Wiggles. Had him since he was a baby - had him for 3 years. Ive been trying to teach him to swim upside down when he wants food for about 2 years - and this week he picked it up finally.
Stella
LOL cute! How did you do it?
phoenix44
spent a lotta time with my hand in the water lol... slowly taught the bunch that the food would only be at the top - and then as they came for food id force them to hand feed. when i saw he wasn't as afraid as the other 11 (now down to 9 i think) i thought i might as well teach him a trick lol. id move my hand slowly away from him and then he would curve in any way to get his food. Aaannnddd 2 years later.... he sits in my hand sometimes when he feels like it. then i feed him and he nibbles on my finger. :bounce:
Stella
phoenix, you have too much time to spare.... Thanks for telling us how you did it - good trick! It is so cool having them feed from your fingers. My mudfish only feed from my fingers (partly a food-would-get-lost-otherwise thing), my kokopu used to, and finally I got a shortjaw kokopu to try it (though admittedly I hadn't thought to attempt it before) Food is such a big motivational factor! PS - I have no idea what any of your fish are. so ill just assume they are all native?

phoenix44
oh! wow... i learn something new everyday! :bounce: my loaches just got those spots one day and they never left! i used to think something was going wrong with them but 2 years on they are still going strong so i just presumed it happened to some of them lol... Thanks david! if it helps i usually only get the clown loaches with the V pattern on them. I used to have one with a v v v dark circle like a blotch of paint - but that loachie died a while ago when the mystery illness hit the tank.
