jude
Hi all I've got a big patch of what I think is pond weed growing in a boggy patch of the garden. I just had a look at it and its actually growing in the water rather than the soil. The whole mat just lifted off and the roots were clean apart from some bits of bark tangled in them. What would happen if I put some in my tank? Would it take over or be well behaved? If its suitable could I plant it in the gravel or just have it as a floating mat? Caryl
Pond weed could be anything. Assuming you haven't been using chemicals in the garden I would give it a go. If it grows floating in the yard then I would float it in the tank. If it starts to take over trim it back hard, or take it out again. Check it thoroughly for any sign of blanket weed or other algae which would be transferred to the tank.
Warren
Best check it's not a noxious plant first though...
