Stu :)
I'm building a background for my new tank and I want to hide all the plumbing and electrical eye-sore stuff behind/inside the background. I was wondering how much space would I need to give my heaters (Jager 300watt and Jebo 300watt). Both heaters will be sitting in the path of filter return current. Ira
A couple mm is fine as long as you have a tiny bit of current.
Stu :)
So 2000lph on the Jager and 1000lph on the Jebo would be fine  Stu
Ira
Yup. Grab a heater when it's turned on(in the water) sometime. As long as there's a bit of flow they don't even get hot to the touch.
kiwipete
Just as a thought, I hid all my wiring and hoses in a piece of alkathene (sp) piping about 18mm diameter. It runs from top to bottom of tank and is held in place with 2 suction cups. This was placed in a corner and has the heater near it. I split the pipe lengthwise to allow for inserting the cables etc.
