Dixon1990
So what parts are they supposed to have? :-? I bought a 1000lph one for $20 and i think its missing something. The motor goes, but theres no suction. Bought it for the puffer tank, but iy didnt go, so had to use a internal.
spoon
let me guess its missing the steel shaft the impeller goes on and you got ripped too

spoon
if the shaft is missing tho the impeller will still spin it just wont be able to get up enuff speed to pump the water . do what i did and hook it up to a powerhead ive got 350lph1 if u want it
Dixon1990
The metal shaft is there :-? Thanks for the offer, but i dont think 350lph would be enough for the 80L tank im making
Ira
Sounds like you're just not priming it properly. Most smaller centrifugal pumps don't pump air well.
Dixon1990
How do i prime this one? The way i did it was put the 'in' pipe in the tank, and sucked on the 'out' until water came through.
Stella
I find even doing that you still wind up with lots of bubbles that stop the impeller from pushing water. Turn the filter upsidedown - does it work? Shake the filter and turn upsidedown lots until all the bubbles are removed. Can take a while. Ira
Pretty much what Stella says. I think most cannisters are built backwards. They should be built upside down from how they are, with the pump on the bottom. Then they'd never get an airlock.
spoon
i have the instruction manual here i will scan it and email it to u 2moro (when my eyesight isnt so blurry (i hope) its a bit starange the way to prime it u have to have the outlet pipe higher than the inlet and then press the priming button on top
