firefish
Are the stingray elite filters any good?
phoenix44
not really. sponge is too small. isn't powerful enough, it gets clogged way too fast...... among others...
firefish
good to know. Then - whats a good filter for a 30 litre tank that doesn't create too much flow?
phoenix44
i use a really small hang on filter, and it works really well. they are in the same price range too i think.
firefish
I'd like to get one, but the tank i need a better filter for has a fitted hood, so a hang on filter won't work
phoenix44
what about that really small eheim green filter thing? those are the best of their type.
firefish
Haven't heard of them before. Are they external or internal? a pic would be good
phoenix44
eheim 2006. should have it at any pet shop that stocks eheim, and in welly you should be spoilt for choice. http://www.aquaristikshop.com/e_Produkt ... pickup.htm
firefish
That one seems good. Whats the flow like tho? And the price?
phoenix44
very good flow.... not sure on the price, but being an eheim it will be more expensive.i have the 2010 on my 4 footer, working as a particle lifter and an air bubble thing... Ianab
The Eheims aren't cheap, but they are good. The flow is usually adjustable, so if you have delicate fish you can turn it down, or wind it up for full filtering goodness. Otherwise if you just want an auxillary filter to help out a puny built-in then a cheapo Aqua-One internal filter will probably do the job fine. lmsmith
I've got one of the eheim pick ups and they're really good. I have it in a 11l tank, but would happily use it up to about 50 or 60l. I think mine cost about $40 from Animates, I think $80 not on sale.
