Slightly Blue Dalmation
well i have an empty 300L tank and would love a couple of blue dempseys, ideas on what else could go with them?
Dixon1990
BGK! Um.. Largeish tetras like columbian, black widows etc. And catfish like pictus and hoplo..
phoenix44
firemouths, blue acaras, green terrors can and will go well with dempseys.
David R
Green terror could get a bit aggressive as it grows, the blue jacks aren't as aggressive as normal jacks from what I've heard. What are the dimensions of the tank?
Slightly Blue Dalmation
err its a juwel rio 300 if that helps, so it more long and deep rather than tall
David R
Not ideal for cichlids then, lacking in footprint. You could have a school of larger tetras or barbs as someone suggested (or rainbows) and perhaps some catfish to help clean up.
phoenix44
yeah DavidR is right - the green terrors can be very pissy sometimes. the juwel is a nice tank - dimensions are 121 x 51 x 62 ish (cms). so you can get away with some cichlids but i suppose it rules the bigger ones out unless you grow them up and sell them when you think they are too big or getting there. phoenix44
I'd say get acaras and stuff and other South Americans then. you can always have other fish in there too cause they acclimatise to conditions really well. Ive got 2 BGK's, various apistos, acaras, bloivian rams, some plecs, heaps of different types of cories (12ish),10 clown loaches, couple of pantadon butterfly's and angels...siamese fighter... etc...etc... and a cazillion plants, lol... tank works well
