penguinleo
I'm beginning to be lured into the exciting yet mind blowingly expensive hobby of photography. DSLR cameras and the like to the more specific. Can anyone recommend me any famous forums or useful links that helps novices to get started with this hobby? So like a site that can throughly explain what those lens millimeter figures mean and what specific jargons mean, etc. Thanks! :bounce:
Ira
I'm inclined to think if you don't already understand what those lense millimeters mean you're probably better off not spending so much on a dslr and get a nice prosumer level camera. Many most of the time will take as good pics as a dslr until you start getting into high end lenses and specialty photography, but cost a fraction of the price. lmsmith
Your best bet is to join a camera club - there are some in Auckland that I can get contact details for if you want. I can also give your some good forums if you PM me
Wok
here's a good start for a DSLR http://www.pcauthority.com.au/GroupTest ... iewed.aspx as regards to how to use them..... You are on your own
skaffen
www.dpreview.com for good reviews and forums. I have to disagree with Ira, if you're willing to spend between $1200 and $1800 for a DSLR kit, you'll get awesome results with the lenses included. They take much nicer photos than a good point 'n click digital camera - no comparison really, IMHO I think it's better to buy something you can grow into. Get a how-to book or look locally for a evening class, and you'll be surprised how quickly you start taking decent photos.
