axolotl-danio
Ok i am hoping for my leopard fish to breed. Besides java moss what are some nice plants that fit this criteria. 1. Low light basically just sunlight and room light. 2. Will protect fry from parents. 3. Commonly available and cheap. 4. 22c temp. 5. Something that can be anchored or floating. thanks
Caryl
One of our members used oxygen weed from the local river. Can't get cheaper than that Water wisteria and Indian fern are good too. They can hide in the floating leaves and the root systems.

axolotl-danio
So what the difference between water wisteria and HYGROPHILLA DIFFORMIS are they the same thing?
Caryl
Same thing. Water sprite is also known as Indian fern and is Ceratopteris thalictroides I was thinking of WCMMs when I mentioned the oxygen weed so you are probably right, 22C will be too warm for it
axolotl-danio
Yeah it just browned off. I just put it in my tadpole tank for them to eat in the end. Interesting about the Water sprite/Indian fern though. I might have to get some.
whetu
Ambulia is good. Fine fluffy leaves for fry to hide in, easy to grow and tolerant of all kinds of temps and light conditions. Also once the top of the plant reaches the water surface it will start growing lots of fine roots, which help make places for fry to hide.
