yarimochi
OMG this is getting pretty annoying. Picking up two F8s in a few days but I cant find ANY DEFINATIVE information. Everything i find contradicts the last thing...... Are they strictly freshwater or brackish?? I want to set up a heavily planted 40L for 2 F8s with 2 sprakling gouramis, 2 ottos and 2 pygmy corys. Would they live happily in a freshwater planted? Would the other fish and plants mind a little bit of salt??(not brackish) thanks
phoenix44
i had 3 at one time in freshwater, with the usual addition of salt (mind you i add a lot more salt in freshwater than most ppl do)... they were fine until they poisoned( or did something evil) to 6 huge blue acaras, and many other expensive fish.... and were then given away... i reckon they will eat your cories. plus isn't 40L too small for them anyways? the last thing you want is a stressed out puffer... hope this helps
HaNs
They are fresh when young and then go into brackish when older. Bring the salinity up over the next few months
Dixon1990
What HaNs Said, they will die early if kept in Frehwater. Also they will or atleast try to eat the pygmy gouramis and cories(that like to be in schools)
HaNs
Best to keep them on their own or any thing else if food to them. Get some snails for them to eat
Dixon1990
Yeap, heaps of snails, Not MTS though! can be kept with Bumblebee gobies.
lmsmith
I think 40L is way too small. I was considering getting 2, in a 100l tank but decided 100L was too small for 2. They will eat the corys and are likely to have a good go at the others too. They need something like snails to help grind their teeth down, they continue to grow as they get older and need to be crunched down by eating tough stuff.
