Just thinking, they sell similar shiny silver stuff as wrapping paper... don't they? Probably cheaper and work just as well. Great idea though! Could be good for my guttering DIY lights. I just caught up on this thread and thought you may be interested to see how I did a light hood for my 3 foot marine tank. It was made with MDF and spray painted white with a spray can. All the electrics for the lights are visible at the bottom edge of the cover and are outside in "FREE AIR" to keep the heat down.
