Stella
I got a few new buckets recently, as you all know, you can never have enough buckets! Thing is they smell really strongly plasticky. Should I worry about this or will it be safe to use? Mostly just bucketing fresh water into tanks. On a similar topic, a girl I know doing her masters study on native fish got a couple of thousand dollars in scholarship money recently. She knew I was one of the few people she could tell who would understand that the first thing she will buy is more buckets!
TM
No need to worry. Just give a quick rinse with water. On a side mote i get buckets from supermarkets that have had syrups etc in them. They will give them to you to if you speak nicely to them. Good strong buckets. alanmin4304
My guess is that the buckets are made from PVC and the smell is a plasticizer used in its manufacture---Dimethyl phthalate or dimp which we used to rub on exposed bits of skin when in areas heavily infested with sandflies. Should keep away the mossies.
