imsweet
I have wet the peat Barrie gave me and got heaps of fry (stopped counting ay 30) thankyou Barrie. i currently have them in a large floating container in the killie tank. Just want to know if theyre sensitive to light?? as the light in the hood is directly above them. I've not had it on since they were in there, just in case. Barrie
none of my tanks are lit as they are for breeding. If you think about where they are from (Africa) and that they are often in a area that has over growth due to the rains arriving, They would be more comfortable with shelter of some sort. I (as does Erling) put Java Moss in with them and some will hide, some will not. Congrats on the hatching...
imsweet
Thanks Barrie, i did put a small handful of java moss in. Will keep the tank as is then. It gets natural light during the day.
Deno
sorry to change the subject Imsweet, but how do your killies handle wanganui hard water and higher ph?
imsweet
they are doing well. I'm probably gonna get shot but,, i dont own a test kit, i do a small water change every couple of weeks and gravel vac maybe every 2 months? When i have the time really. But with the fry they get a small syphon of the waste every day and topped up with tank water. I have only lost 3 so not bad so far. (I have 5 australe golds in the main tank, all well)

Barrie
a sure sign of killis haveing a Ph problem is when they stop eating and laying... you will find the Ph low and would need to add oyster shell to a filter
