lol my balloon mollie has be up the duff for what seems like for ever!!!! Finally last night she decided enough was enough and dropped 37 fry, 11 died and 26 are alive and well :D :D

I have them in a little container floating in my guppie fry tank cos the guppies were trying to eat them :o

Small water changes several times a day should be ok I thought

I am soooo happy :D

Well done Bedazzled!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I always know when my guppies and mollies are about to drop because they get horrendously fat

I can't imagine it would be easy to guess when a balloon molly would drop though, because they're fat looking to begin with! LOL

I had normal molly fry not last night but the night before, and they have been moved to a small tank to raise up on their own - mum is a big pig and I have an African Butterfly fish in the same tank, who eats anything that moves!

Keep up with the daily small water changes, and feed twice daily if not more if you can, and I'm sure they will thrive.

If there are 10 and both parents after 30 days you can get a breeding certificate too.

I love baby fish, and livebearers are that much easier coz they do it all for you - just add water!

Thanks Spink :D

I Have had her in the fry tank for the last week cos I thought she was due to drop them lol my partner kept saying put her back, she is just a fat fish LOL

There are 2 more that are looking like they will die :( So I may be lucky to have 10 left at the end of 30 days.

How do you do register it? I am not a member of a club or anything :(

Hi Bedazzled, congrats on the arrival of your babies. Have you considered a breeding net? This would allow you to keep the babies safe, but in the same water as the rest of the tank, without needing to do the water changes. I might even be able to find a spare one...

I have a plastic breeding trap but the babies can get through the holes

I may just have to put the guppies in the big tank, was hoping not to have to though cos they will be VERY hard to catch when they are big enough lol

For the moment they are ok in the container, shouldn't take long for them to be big enough to let out, I do a daily water change on the fry tank any way so it is not a major hassle
