chimera
When my new tank eventually goes in, water volume (main tank and sump) will increase from around 400 litres to approximately 1,000 litres. This is effectively like doing a 60% water change (NSW) in one hit. Will this cause problems to corals/fish or is there still enough original water for this to be ok? reef
should not be a problem
lduncan
They should be fine, just try to make sure the temp, pH, and salinity are as close as possible before mixing. That should minimise the stress on your animals. Layton
Ira
I suppose you could use just a small powerhead or something at first to pump the water up from the sump something weak enough it takes ages to pump the sump's volume up into the main tank, give it heaps of time for everything to adjust but...That'd just be a pain in the butt. chimera
cheers guys, it's not a big load of corals anyways, it's more the fish i was concerned about. will try and get the water chemistry as close as possible. it will probably do my tank some bloody good actually, because its overstocked now its hard to keep nitrates down without massive water changes weekly anyways!!!
