And I was looking in a tank of platys and saw something really disgusting.

There was a silvertip tetra in there which had what looked like a transparent sac growing from under its eye. The eye itself was still attached but pushed out and down a bit from the socket. The transparent sac had a white wormlike thing inside it?

Any ideas what this might have been??

i was in a store in Hamilton on sunday for "the sale" and a tail-less and somewhat half eaten red jewel was being feasted on by others in the tank. Problem was, the poor thing was still alive albeit barely!!

I suggested to the retail assistant that she may want to take it out of the tank and put it out of its misery. Her response was "oo, but thats so cruel, I could never bring myself to do that. At least we wont have to feed them tonight"

Disgusting!!

The tetra doesnt sound much better. I have no idea what it could be.
