VinsonMassif
I got mine from Mitre10 Mega Wairau Park. 25L for $5.30. They have 0-3mm, or 3-5mm Bags. That is if you want inert sand.

RochelleMay
excuse me not knowing but what do you mean by inert sand? Is it proper aquarium sand? I have already sourced some sand but its still good to know these things for future.
VinsonMassif
sure thats not stones 3mm is a bit big to be sand LMAO it is supposed to read 0-0.3, and 0.3-0.5mm Inert sand means it does not affect the pH of the water in any way. Yes it is safe for Aquariums otherwise I would not have suggested it. Aragonite is another type of sand with buffers the pH higher. It is used for keeping African cichlids and sometimes in marine setups.
alanmin4304
I use greywacke sand which is inert. Don't know if you have it up there.
David R
Stone and Water World in Marua road have a few different 'grits' as well as silica sand, or you could try a landscaping place like Stevensons, bound to be cheaper than a retail place like Mitre10.
