tinytawnykitten
My fluval 105's current has dropped considerably since I first started using it about 6 months ago. I have cleaned the intake and outlet but haven't ventured under the tank yet, as I am not entirely sure what is the best way to do it. I have never actually changed the media or anything. What should I do?
mitzy
media might need to be changed , I think but not totally sure i think every few months u change part of the media.
tinytawnykitten
So I turn it off, then should I put it in a bucket before I start disconnecting things? In case of flooding?
mitzy
I have a jebo 815 but im guessing the work the same , with mine i turn it off and has clips on side i release them and lift up then in side basket trays lift out with the media on. I googles yours and Its look like it may be like that too. did it come with instrustions ?
mitzy
If it has valves on it, close the valves then turn it off and un-plug it. Diconnect the valves from the head (might be a lever?) But dont unscrew the pipes from the lever! Then take the lid off .... leave the pipes in the tank. I forgot about that, Mine got values too , the picture on google looks like yours does too,
tinytawnykitten
Oh wow I've done it, what a cool system! Thanks for your help. All I did was just rinse out 2 of the 4 sponges and the canister itself, and tomorrow I will buy just 2 new sponges. Of course now it is back on and has nicely belched a lot of gunk into the tank! mitzy
Your welcome, Is it working better ?
tinytawnykitten
Yeah much better actually! Must have just been over-gunked. Of course my 405 from Afrikan will arrive tomorrow but I lost a fish last night and didn't want a repeat performance. Thanks again
Ira
Why waste your money buying new sponges? If the sponge isn't falling apart it doesn't need to be replaced. Rinse it out and it's good as new. Unless you don't have anything better to spend your money on.
tinytawnykitten
Unless you don't have anything better to spend your money on. Yeah well the thing is, I just have this bank account with squillions of dollars in it and I just don't know what to do with it. It is really hard being me. Not really.  Seriously though, yeah that is a much better idea! Why didn't I think of that!
