Caryl
They aren't that hard to come by in most areas. The tail will hopefully grow back if it wasn't chomped off too close to the base. It will be worth keeping alive if you don't put it back with the goldfish.

Ira
I'm guessing the previous ones were also eaten by the goldfish? Didn't that give you a clue that maybe goldfish and little bite size nibbles don't go together?
Cookieskennels
nope 3 died and 3 were fished by the cat! And i have not long had this large fish and has never tried to eat it before.... i thought it was strange to start now. Kelsta
I realise this post is quite old now, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents worth... I have fantail goldfish and WCMM who live together in peace. The goldfish are getting quite large - definitely plenty big enough to eat the WCMM if they wanted to. Now, I have had one WCMM who got eaten by one of my more precocious goldies on his very frist day in the tank, and he seemed to be unwell and not very mobile when we brought him home, so I suspect that he was simply sick or unwell and too slow to swim away. Also, the goldy was rather hungry as she hadn't been fed for a while. Other than that one incident - they live together well. I suspect comets would be more inclined to chase/eat the WCMM though. Cookieskennels
ok i think the large (17cm) fish was hungry to, when i first put it in the tank it chased the rest but now they dont care and live happy....i think he realised he couldnt eat them lol.....but sadly this WCMM took the price its still alive and swimming (oddly) but seems to be ok, the leftover tail (no fins at all) looks bare and sore..... AquaMan
Hi I'm surprised that your goldie is chewing on your minnow's tail. He must be hungry! I have minnows living happily with 8-10cm goldfish in an outdoor pond. Hope your fish survives!
