breakaway
Hi there, My plants are growing like crazy since I added the 15w Flouroscent light (Or is it my eyes playing tricks on me). The ambulias have grown like 1 cm in the past couple of days. Firstly, If I cut them off, will this cause any permanent damage to the plant and stop it growing or something ? Secondly, If I cut off a part of the plant and plant it in another part of the tank, will it grow or will it die out ? Thanks for any help in advance
Ira
The usual method of propogating ambulia is to cut their heads off and plant them. So...Uhhh...No, it won't hurt the plant.
MGilchrist
the original will sprout out from the sides and get more bushy and the cutting will grow, soon the tank will be full of it.
Warren
Sounds like pretty reasonable growth. You will probably get better growth in time. When I kept Ambulia it used to grow 50mm a day. In a week you had a whole new plant. Once you get all you need the best way to keep it looking good is to pull the whole plant out and chop off the bottom. Throw the bottom away and replant the top. This way the plants always look new and fresh. If you need more plants, just chop them off half way and replant the top.
