Cheesejawa
I purchased scarlae angels on friday along with 5 more lemon tetras to make a school of 9. They are healthy and not hiding but refuse to eat. I managed to get one to eat a small amount of flake but apart from that they have eaten nothing. I think they may be either scared of me or being badly outcompeted by the 9 lemons and 2 danios. Normaly they can chase the other fish and keep them away but at feeding time they cannot get to the food. I have tryed target feeding but the angels are afraid of my hand in the tank and then the food gets eaten by the other fish. I thought angels were meant to be good surface feeders and will out compete other fish? Do you think I should get some blood worms or sinking food to help them eat or should I just wait and see if they will learn to surface feed? The problem may be that Ichoose the 2 biggest fish in the tank and they are used to not having to work for their food. I think I have too many surface feeders for the poor angels, the danios could be moved but the lemons cannot go anywhere else. Could someone please help me out here. new zealand discus man
Leave lights over tank of till feeding..Its quite normal not to feed for a couple of days.. Just try blood worms a little at a time..temp at least 28c.. I have had my imported discus not eat for a week...All came right as stress goes away..Stay out of tank till all normal just adds to problems.. jayci
yeah, my angels are slow eaters too. 40 black widow tetras bet them to it everytime. But they are happy and healthy. I have read that angel are abit slow to get use to new tanks. And it is best to put them in a tank that has alot of foot traffic, so that they don't become shy and recluse.
