ryanjury
Ok I don't know much about these guys but I have a heap that keep breeding the biggest male is maybe 10cm's long and hasn't grown has bristles but they're small.. I picked up a male in the weekend and he is HUGE like at least 15cm's definately a bristlenose of some sort but he is massive and his bristle's look like little cabbage tree's they're huge and branch out at the top... I would love to breed from him but because of the difference I am wondering if he is a different species or huge freak from a different line that has different bristles. danilada
I think the size varys from each fish, I had 2 males, 2 different lines, one had huge bristles the other didn't.

Insect Direct
hey bro probably just a standard bn but get some pics if u can be bothered ive noticed some of mine get bristles earlier than others, then i get what i think is a female as its a good size with no bristles so put in with a male only to see what i thought to be a female starts grown bristles lol mitzy- how do you know the bn with tiny bristles is a female? has it bred? Caryl
I wonder if the amount, and size, of the bristles varies depending on whether the male has grown up with other males. Seems to me the dominant male is usally the biggest with biggest bristles.
Insect Direct
thats interesting, ive had success when adding a second male in the past, its like they wake up and compete for the ladies?
mitzy
Have not breed for me yet , i dont have my males together and i think the big one in with females may be just too old as he not as active as the females, the female that has tiny tiny bristles are not all over and bushy like the males and the body shape is different. shadowfax
i have a really big male aswell, IMO i think it comes down to how the fry are cared for after they have been kicked out by dad. you are always going to get better growth if they are given the proper care versus leaving them to it. i have read about people using tanks that are in direct sulight and green as to breed bn's in to provide them with the best possible start.
