Hey guys!

A few quick questions I have to clear up a debate me and my friend are having...

Do crayfish eat snails?

Do borneo suckers/hillstream loaches eat snails?

Do crayfish eat borneo suckers?

Cheers! :bounce:

haha

well my arguement was that

small crayfish and im talking shrimp sized lol would pose no risk at all...

i think crayfish would eat snails and borneo's though which means i couldnt have them  because i need some sort of algae eater in there and i like snails anyways haha.

so maybe i will trial and error it. see who works with who and report back.

  • 4 weeks later...

I had all of the above living in harmony for 2 months - my 4 borneos used to enter into my kouras cave and initially I used to panic thinking I would never see them again (as he attacks my other fish if they get too close)

the koura would attack my snail (ramshorn I believe) if it got in his way - actually Robert (as I called him) would attack anything (even try and attack my ugly mug whenever i put my face near the tank) but it was more a defensive gesture (guarding his domain) than looking for food

I gave up the crayfish idea as i had one then it died then i got a new one and it died too.

I've stuck with freshwater shrimps because they seem to live. I have 30 of the buggers now! real cute to watch them eat algae in the aquarium too...
