GeeTee
Something is a bit wrong with my male flameback. Over the last few weeks he has been loosing his colour and then went real blotchy. Any idea what the go is? Before After

ryanjury
little whisp of a white stringy poo, have you thought about worms?
GeeTee
Fish would be 3 years old maximum. One other male flameback in tank.It hasn't taken over the dominant role though. Did you mean perhaps a male of another species? I'll check the stringy poo tomorrow, making sure it wasn't dirty glass in the photo.

Caper
Oh gosh, can't believe I'm going to ask this but here goes...why are you referring to the poo as stringy? How should it look? Hope all goes well real soon, he is a beautiful fish. But the fish just below him also looks like he has clamped fins? Or just a temporary clamping, just as you took pic? Oh and what is a flameback, he is a cichlid isn't he? If so, is that what he is called a flameback cichlid??? Caper
GeeTee
Yes it is a cichlid, from lake Victoria I think. Haplochromis Flameback The fins aren't clamped, just unlucky with the camera. In case you aren't aware of it,it is the same fish in both pics The poo isn't meant to hang out of the fish and trail behind it so to speak. It's meant to come out a bit and break off. jolliolli
Oh gosh, can't believe I'm going to ask this but here goes...why are you referring to the poo as stringy? How should it look? Caper White stringy poo can indicate internal parasites, the poo should be a solid colour and break off in small pieces
Caper
Thanks for explaining about the poo   Yes, GeeTee I did realize it was the same fish in both pics; in regard to the clamped fins I meant the second picture where you can see another fish below the one in question :-? ryanjury
Did we come to a verdict with this fish? How is he going?
GeeTee
No real verdict yet, but I had some metro??? worm treatment so he has been on that for 2 days.No improvement yet. Very sad looking now in a 2 foot tank instead of 5 foot.
