Faran
Local, aye? :-? Legal and cute, too! Recently got leopardfish of my own (Thanks Skoll!) and they're happily living in a bathtub pond eating mozzies and pretty much anything else. Hoping to have heaps of them like my WCMM explosion this summer! By the way, does anyone know if they can happily survive the winter outdoors here? carla
Mine live happily in an unheated tank in the house. Not sure how they handle frost outdoors? Ask Dixon etc in the South island - they got some off me a while back via Billaney!
Faran
I reckon they're the same as guppies and can handle an indoor unheated tank but would perish with frosts. They've just been put in the bathtub and now I'm questioning my judgment with Autumn looming
Skoll
They didn't quite manage a full winter on the south side of my house, of course that gets hit with a full Wellington southerly. They'll happily survive indoor temperatures below 10C. little wee tank in a spare room so fluctuated with the weatehr in a fiarly significant way. Interestingly enough females tended to survive the cold better... Gavin.... :)
Keri Anne
...Interestingly enough females tended to survive the cold better... Gavin.... :) Maybe it's a livebearer thing? I've found female guppies and platies can handle cooler temps than male's too.
carla
Since the girls of all livebearers are roughly double the size of the males, they might just have an advantage of surface to interior when cooling out
