1. Java fern is commonly attached to driftwood as is Java moss. Anubias is another. They can be wedged into a split in the wood or tied down with fishing line or cotton.

2. There is a range of bulbs available for plants. Fish don't care about the light but some look better under certain spectrums. Plants are more particular. I don't know what they are supposed to be but I just use daylight and bright white fluorescents.

3. Silicone can be bought from places like Mitre 10 and Placemakers. Make sure it is aquarium safe.

4. I don't think a submersible camera would necessarily give bettre pics than any other sort. It depends on how you use it.

5. Neon could have a cyst, a cancerous growth, a secondary wound infection, or a genetic defect.

sounds a bit like neon tetra disease to me id kill it or move it to a tank by its self not worth losing the lot over one neon which as you say has lost its colour and therefoer its appeal there not called neons for their dull colourless body now are they

Breakaway,

What is your neon worth?

What is the rest of your tank inhabitants worth?

Have you got a "q" tank?

Make up your mind from these questions.

Alan

Yes, you are right, I should probly euthanize it, But I would like to exhaust all my other options before I do that. Those neons were my first fish.

just my 2 cents, i had a neon with exactly the same symptoms, i took the option to leave it there. it lived a long and happy life and the other 15 neons/cardinals were as happy as and never got the same symptoms. not saying this will be the same for you, just passing on what i experienced myself (errr.... never could get that bump off my butt :D - i mean what my fish experienced, you get my drift!)
