Jasmine
Hey guys, I'm debating in which direction to go. I love fish, and the variety seems more if you can go the fish only option. In particular I was looking at the cowfish... But then I like the colours, and natural look, of corals. So I'm torn between the two. What are your thoughts of each? evilknieval69
FOWLR's cheaper, Reefs cooler
Jasmine
Cost is not a factor, but I am leaning more towards the FOWLR cause it has more options fish wise (i.e. that cowfish I was eyeing up ) Though I'd love clownfish/anemone. Could an anemone go in a typical FOWLR setup? And please, I'd love to see photos of FOWLR setups!
anthony law
So I'm torn between the two .............jasmine wrote why not do both,,,, 8)
Jasmine
Haha. Well, I said that to one of my mates. But I'm planning on purchasing an eight footer, I can only fit one in my house I could use my four footer later on but guess just want to focus on one tank for now (well two, cause my two footer cube has my GSPs in at the moment). Later on maybe could run another, but it will be much later, even years.

Jasmine
go reef Your reasons behind it? I need convincing arguements about why I should pick one over the other
Gannet
ok i would chose reef due to the fact as its an enviroment that is always changing, yes it cost more but at 8ft would look amazing. as far as im concerend its all the little things added up that make a reef amazing, ok a flowr can still be an amazing tank, and yes u can get odd ball fish tht look freakie, but reef has got more punch... y dont u split ur 8ft half reef and half fowlr, they can use the same water just put up a divider? Hehe. That's a brilliant idea! I might just start out with the FOWLR and do your suggestion in time when I have a bit more money! Then having both I guess, if I change mind one way or other, I can just sell off one half and make it a full tank either way. Still would like pictures of FOWLR tanks! Gannet
get living art to put a few pics, he has both tropicla fowlr and native fowlr
reef
Fish only would be great, so many nice angel fish available. You can even keep some leather corals in with them as the fish might not touch them. i say go for it.
Jasmine
If the cowfish can fit in a four foot tank, then I'm debating making my four footer a FOWLR tank and the eight footer a reef tank...I have posted another post about this. reef
eight foot reef tank? to get a decent tank it will set you thousand, bigger means bigger filters more lights etc, I stop counting the money that goes into it each week. Jasmine
I know it'll cost a lot of money. I'm well aware of the cost, it won't be for some time, but have a four foot tank I can do something with now.
reef
I'm well aware of the cost, I wish i did, $40k and counting.
Jasmine
Hehe. Yeah, not a cheap hobby, but a worthwhile one Besides, the bigger the tank the more stable it's likely to be for reef right?
