slevin12
is it ok to rinse of driftwood then stick it into the planted tank along with stones from the beach and pieces of paua and when dried out kina shells
Heir
I've always boiled stones etc to kill off anything that may not be too good for the fish and so you don't have any unwanted organisms in the tank.
MarkLB
All I've ever done is a quick rinse and straight into the tank with no problems.

Rob
Don't go overboard with the shells - they'll slowly disslove and increase the pH and hardness of the water in the tank.
Cricketman
boiling can also change the colour of shells. just as a note
imsweet
i have polished paua pieces in my tank as i have opted for a dark gravel and it looks great. Ppl told me over time it would alter the PH but my guess is the fish will have a long time to get used to it. I just soaked my driftwood in a bucket and scrubbed well to get the sand and nasties out. be careful with the kina tho... fish kebeb.
