kathiej
My cobalt blue dwarf gourami has been listless for a while but now doesn't seem to be feeding. It has a spot on one side near the base of its tail and I just noticed a couple of white spots and missing bits of fin. Is this terminal or can it be treated. I've had this fish for about 6 months. I've had several dwarf gouramis die over the last 8 months. I'm new to this and find it rather daunting when fish die for no apparent reason. Adrienne
I'm no expert on gourami but from reading through this forum it seems to be a regular occurance with dwarf gourami (them dying that is).
jolliolli
unfortunately imported dwarf gouramis just seem to be dying of unexplained illnesses. if you do a search on the site you'll see many ppl (myself included) have lost dwarf gouramis to unexplained mystery illnesses. You mention white spots, is the gourami scratching at all? do the pieces of fins have white fluffy growth?
kd123
Sounds familiar .... kathiej. I am now down to 1 and 1/2 dwarf gourami after beginning with 8. It is rather daunting to see them get sick and die one after the other. My last female is in a salt quarantine tank as we speak...
kathiej
No fluffy stuff, not scratching. It hangs out at the top of the tank or at one end, that is the end that has the least water movement, and close to the glass also (like nose first for hours). I can put my hand in and move it around but it still swims on its own when it needs to. The white spots are like little holes and only at the base of a fin. Its breathing seems a bit more laboured than the other fish.
Simian
I too have lost all my dwarves I had one which just kept getting a bigger and bigger abdomen until it died i dissected it looking for parasites but apart from a god awful stench seemed fine to my untrained eye. My pearls and goldens are fine and were in same tank
