Rufus
Just bought some minnows this weekend. We had some back home in the UK and liked them. Oddly a "Minnow" here seems to be a completely different fish. The "minows" here (NZ) are much tubbier, more colourful with a lot more red in their dorsal fins and tails than thv slimmer more drab UK fish. I wonder if this is because they are different fish or whether it's selective breeding of the same fish that's caused the difference. I prefer the Kiwi ones myself - even though they look like cantrbury fans, they need some yellow to go with the red and black in my unbiased Hamilton opinion (a MooLoo Minnow has a certain ring to it don't you think?). either way our minnmows are very pretty and seem to be fine in with our "hard case" indestructible goldfish who lived in a murky slimy bowl for about six months ('till we got ashamed of it and back into "fish keeping"). Caryl
Make sure the indestructable goldfish don't eat the minnows but I think most say they are too fast for the goldfish to catch. Don't know if our minnows are the same as yours in the UK.
Wok
the minnows will eventually slow down and get eaten. I have done and seen this with friends tank of Orandas.
Rufus
the minnows will eventually slow down and get eaten. Oh, that's could be quitv unpleasant. Our last lot (back home) were fine together for a year or more ..... but, as I said, think they might have been different fish... i thought i had done my research and had read up on minnows, just shows - trust nobody! Thanks for the warning, I'll keep an eye out for that.

coelacanth
the white cloud mountain minnows in shops in UK are the same as ours, but the minnows you might catch from the streams in the UK are a completely different species
Rufus
We had "white cloud mountain minnows" before too, I am too lazy to actually catch my own fish. They just look so different to the ones we had before.
