Caryl
If you want a metal stand, try a local engineering firm.
chimera
saltwater and metal = rust. stick with timber and they generally have nicer finishes too. tough tanks web site dont even have any pic's - what a joke! talk about lose easy business... Pies
They also spell 'Halide' wrong... Chimera - Your right about saltwater and rust. HOWEVER I am planing a metal stand for my new tank, a 7 footer. Sometimes its just easier to have someone weild one up than it is to have a wooden one built. I will just prime it to seal it and hope for the best. It will be clad in wood though (I think). If anyone knows a cabinet maker in Wellington looking for a 'cashie' please sing out, I got a 7 footer I need built. Pies

Pies
Doch - I am in Wellington though bro... I can get the stand weilded for free including material so no drama there. I will just prime and paint/seal it I think. Its making it look good from their I am worried about. Its going in a prodominant place in my home, so I want it to look good, hence the need to do something like clad it in timber. doch
hey if its going in some were nice well you need to powder coat it there must be heaps of places in welly that do that and it hides a miriade of sins and looks great and you can get alsorts of colours and finishes i got mine done in a crazy black easy to clean and dont show any dust
Aaron
mmm..... i to have emailed tough tanks aswell a few times now and have not recieved a reply i guess they dont want my bidness! As for the stand it aint hard to make your own you just need to get your dimensions right, i made mine out of 12mm marine ply with shelfs and doors hell i even upholstered the thing myself came to a little over $30 (pirks of being a boatbuilder) just need to stain it and shell be mint . would defientaly go for timber though will last longer in a damp enviroment
CatBrat
I sent Tough tanks an email and they sent one back in a couple of days thanking me for my questions. I wonder why they didn't reply to yours? Cheers, CatBrat.
