Neon Green Algae - Any ideas?

Hi my 65 litre tank has a neon green algae which comes off like a skin when I do a gravel siphon. Parameters in the tank are ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate 5-10 - do 50% water changes 1 to 2 times per week. Has 6 neons, 6 glowlights and 6 black neons with one baby (and I mean baby) bristlenose. We had two little babies but have just lost one. Filtered by a eheim classic 2213 so quite overfiltered as it does 440l per hour. I thought it might be cyano but only seems to be info about it in salt water tanks. Any ideas whether I am right and how to treat. This is a very low light tank - only 24 watts, only java moss in tank.

Definitely sounds like cyano to me and it isn't found just in marine tanks. Try siphoning out as much as possible then totally black out the tank for 3 or 4 days. Do not feed the fish during this time either. At the end of this, do another thorough siphon. If this fails you may have to use Erythromycin - a prescription only medication and used as a last resort.

Better to find the cause. Could be too many or too few phosphates, too much light, or it might have come in on an infected plant.

Thanks Caryl, will my little baby Bristlenose be alright during the black out period for the four days without food or am I better to aclimate him to my 190 litre tank instead and pop him in there? There are three bristles in there already which are quite a bit bigger than the little one but it is a big tank. If I do put him in the big tank i assume he won't transfer the cyano with him? And the infected plant would make sense, we had noticed there seemed to be some strands of the moss that were almost glued together when we got it, I cut alot off but maybe didn't get it all.
