henward
well... we all know i like trying random things i was told buy this group in uk that silver dollars can be put into a planted tank, so long as they are well fed. everyone says and my own judgement says no. but i decided to have fish wtih jardinii that are nice, i love silvers look like piranhas! so ill sacrifice the plants but ... im trialling to see if the silvers and my spotten metynis and flagtail will eat the plants. day 2, no plants have been eated. if i keep them well fed, maybe, in theory they wotn eat it unless they are grazer fish then perhaps.... well if they do its ok but, if not, then perhaps thats an idea for someone, a planted silver dollar or metynis tank:D oh yes, a red hook metynis is available if anyone wants them at HFF 80 $
davidb
what plants? SD's will go for any plants eventually, its a matter of time  Your best bet if you do want plants is something that is really quick growing and hardy. Loopy
putting a plant anywhere near any of my silver dollars is suicide for the poor plant. my darn dollars even ruined qute a few plastic plants  and once my silver dollar fry worked out they couldn't hide in the java moss anymore, they ate it
Caryl
We had a club member who tried feeding them with lots of lettuce. Didn't stop them eating the plants as well.
