ok -finally caught the neon :- www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/help-catching ... 26739.html

and got him into my quarantine tank, dosed with Methylene blue but theres no instructions on the bottle apart from the initial dosage -

how long should i keep the fish there ?(guessing until fungus has gone?)

should I redose? and when?

what should I do about water changes? I'd normaly do a 25% change every day in this small tank

I cannot remember the exact dosage, maybe someone here can clarify. For my hospital tank which is about 20 litres i put in a few drops of meth blue and a tablespoon of salt.

Not sure if that is the correct dosage but works for me...ive only used hospital tank once, and wasnt even looking after my own fish lol

just thought -would adding some Melafix be a good idea?

Hi Sid - it is generally a good idea to not mix medicines - you can very easily end up with toxic compounds and overdoses. If the fish has Fungus, the most potent chemical and best treatment is Furan2, although it is harmful to humans so be careful when handling it. If you have already added Melafix, then do a large water change (70%+), and then add back the correct dosage of whatever medicine you decide to use.

hadn't mixed the med's -figured i'd better ask first, did my partial water change today & re dosed with meth blue...

fish looking better-fungus is less pronounced - am planning to leave it a couple of days untill no sign of fungus then do water changes every day+put carbon in the filter.

will then dose with Melafix for a couple of days before returning to the main tank
