imsweet
Sorry to jump on your ship, my new killifish, (the male) looks to have a slight white edge round his fins. Would a dash of salt be recommended? is it non-iodised, rock salt or just anything? Thanks.

Barrie
They naturally have white on their fins so nothing to worry about. The size difference is quite normal with males when mature often being twice the size of females and when young, often the males can be 3 times the size If you have only the single female make sure she has a place to hide from the male as males want to do the chasing very often and she may well need a rest. caserole
Normal dose to have with Notho's is 1tsp per 4 to 5lts (roughly 1 gallon). If they have Ich or velvet, double the dose in conjunction with blue and 50% daily water changes ( keep the tank as dark as practical if velvet). evilknieval69
Normal dose to have with Notho's is 1tsp per 4 to 5lts (roughly 1 gallon). Thats seems like alot. The tank they are in has just under 18 litres of water in it ATM, so i would need a little over 3 tsp's of salt for it. correct? I put a small amount in (probably under a tsp) and they are looking much better. i think that all signs of white spot have gone and they seem happy enough. even saw them spawning yesterday :does a happy dance: which was exciting. caserole
1 teaspoon per gallon (4-5lts) is correct for preventing Oodinium. And double that when treating Oodinium on Killies, particularly Notho's and alike annuals. Great that they fell better, just to be on the safe side keep a close eye on them for another 10 days.
