Dixon1990
My betta eggs have just hatched, the male is still in the tank with them, do i take him out now? And i only have a internal power filter in there at the moment and dont have any cycled sponge filters what do i do about this?
evilknieval69
Leave the male in with them. Turn off the filter and put a sponge filter in. even if it isn't cycled. I hope you are going to have room to grow out hundreds of fighters
Dixon1990
Theres only about 20-30 of them, It was the males first time and he was the greates egg catcher ever  .And only plan on raising the biggest/strongest 25 or so,so 2 30L tanks should be alright to raise them shouldn't it? evilknieval69
25 fighters, in two 30L tanks.... :-? You need more room dude

evilknieval69
Once you get a 3 footer going then move all your fish from your 2 footer into it, then use the two footer and the 30L tanks for grow outs
Dixon1990
Some of the fish in the 2foot are stayin in there, But i will have another empty 2foot ,15L,25L and the 2 30L tanks and i have plenty of sponge filters il start cycling tonite. SO that should be enough right?
Adrienne
If you think theres only about 30 theres probably about 90 of them. I have this number of 6 week old fighters in 2 4ft tanks and at this stage they are not big enough to decide which to keep and which to cull. You need more tanks
Dixon1990
How big should they be now? We went on holiday so i guess they got stunted a bit,2 of them are about 6mm and the rest are smaller.
Adrienne
You'll always get a couple that will be way bigger than the others, usually males. the rest will grow. I have some about the same age, range from 3cm down to about 6mm. Some stirring up trouble and have been seperated, others quite happy to be mixing. How many have you ended up with. Dixon1990
Only about 20 or less.It was the males first time and he was crap at catching the eggs.
Tsarmina
out of a spawn of about 50, i have 4 that have survived. 3 are all the same size about 6cm, the other is only about 2cm and they are 5 months old
Adrienne
Think of it as a positive (and take it from me) they are a lot easier to raise when there are less of them As my husband is always telling me - its natures way - only the strongest will survive. Dixon1990
Half of the fry are white and the other half are grey. The biggest of each colour are fighting sometimes at only 6mm. should i seperate?
Adrienne
chuck some floating plants into the top of the tank to give some hiding places rather than splitting unless you have too. usually the one with the torn fins is the one causing the trouble rather than the one being picked on
