maxjac
Hello Today I noticed that my pair of clownfish have layed eggs. Is there anywhere in Wellington that I can get some live food for the babies if they make it to hatching. thanks Jackie
AMAZONIAN
Yep, out in the middle of Cook Strait, down deep with a "PLANKTON" net. Good luck

OscarBoy
ok i just thought that maybe from the rock pools would be good as that is what the marine labatoury uses to feed there sea horses etc (mind the speling)

wasp
Well congrats on your clownfish laying eggs! You feed them live rotifers. However the whole thing is a lot of work and near enough impossible. But if you get a live rotifer culture it can be done, but it's not easy. Guest Anonymous
Hello Today I noticed that my pair of clownfish have layed eggs. Is there anywhere in Wellington that I can get some live food for the babies if they make it to hatching. thanks Jackie I may be able to help you, but not until the new year. The first batch of eggs is almost always infertile so I wouldn't worry pm Zaita he has some rotifers altho I have no idea how good they are he thinks they might be to big My rotifers are fine for 99% of marine fish. The only fish I suspect they maybe too big for is Mandarin Dragonet. But I am working on securing some SS-Strain rotifers early next year Rotifers don't come in 'good' or 'bad' They are merely an empty live container for phytoplankton
maxjac
thanks for all the advice. I wouldn't be surprised if they are infertile as the eggs are yellow, not orange as everything I have read. Looks like a lot of work.
