Michelle.g
I'm interested in using some PMDD in a 240L planted tank if it's not too difficult/expensive to make. Saw this in a previous thread: PMDD 2 Teaspoons (~14g) K2SO4 (potassium sulfate) 1 Teaspoon (~6g) KNO3 (potassium nitrate) 2.5 Tablespoons (~33g) MgSO4-7H2O (fully hydrated magnesium sulfate, aka epsom salts; omit if present in trace element mix) 1 Tablespoon (~9g) Chelated Trace Element Mix (7% Fe, 1.3% B, 2% Mn, 0.06% Mo, 0.4% Zn, 0.1% Cu, EDTA, DTPA) 300 ml (1.5 cups) distilled H2O I'm a biochemistry student, so should be able to make it and I can get hold of most of the ingredients through family, but where could I get some "chelated trace mix" in Chch, or could I make something similar to it? Thanks.

Navarre
Hi There, You can buy stuff like this at the Water Garden I think or any other Garden centre. I think I got mine from Athol MCCullys in Columbo St up by Sydenham Park. Big Red Shed might have it cheaper. HTH Navarre
Michelle.g
bit of subject but what year biochem are you? at canterbury? I'm in my 6th year at Canterbury. Nearly finished my Masters thesis. Are you studying too Slightly Blue Dalmation? Thanks for the info Navarre. The Water Garden is pretty close to where I live so might have a look there first. If possible I would still be interested to know if it is possible to make up some kind of chelated trace mix, if anyone has some ideas on what to add. Thanks.
