Slightly Blue Dalmation
well considering the price of discus pairs, how many little discus would need to be gotten and how likely to get a pair out of them?

Luke*
3 ft tank too small to keep 5-6 in to adults but can stay in there for a while if you're doing large daily water changes. I have one pair in a 3 ft tank.
Slightly Blue Dalmation
yeah thats what the prob was, a pair is damn expensive but what im after and much cheaper getting lotsa smaller ones and getting rid of the excess after hopefully having a pair
evilknieval69
Didn't cichlid7 offer you a pair in another thread for $150? (IIRC) You would be paying at least that for 6 babys plus postage. Why not buy a pair....
ryanjury
If your skimping on buying the fish in the first place how are you going to afford tanks etc to raise all the babies?
Slightly Blue Dalmation
yeah cichlid7's no longer availible
Slightly Blue Dalmation
no im not trying to skimp, to clear things up i have a 3ft tank and really want discus not to breed and most have reckomended getting a pair so can just have 2, otherwise gets a bit tricky
ryanjury
OIC fair enough You cant beat a nice planted discus tank.. Are you sure you cant manage a bigger tank if you just want them for display?

sharn
$150 for a pair was a sweet deal! Usually young, productive pairs go for at least $250 depending on the strain which when you think about it isnt too bad for two fish, especially if theyre full grown.
