chrisa
Okay, Have found out that that Guppies may not be good companions for Discus as Guppies eat quicker than discus. What fish would make good tank companions for Discus other than Neons that is. All opinions welcome!
PETEYPLECO
See below, all seems to be well. 3x Large Clown Loaches 1x Syno Cat 2x Neons 5x Yellow Mollies 1x YoYo Loach 2x Discus 2x Red Lyretail swordtails
davidb
neons are not the best tankmates for discus as they don't do very well in temperatures of 28-29, they prefer 24-25. Other tetras that would be better suited include Cardinal tetras or rummynosed tetras... some people find glowlight tetras or Bleeding heart tetras good also and they are alot cheaper than rummynoses or cardinals. Other good fish are clown loaches, corys, SAE's, dwarf pencilfish, Rams, fancy plecs, etc... hope that helps
OscarBoy
don't get angels as if 1 gets sick it will pass it on 2 the discus. thats what ben at hutt pets told me when i had discus
davidb
yes the main reason why it is not reccomended to mix angels with discus is because Angels are more 'hardy' than discus, and can carry different diseases which are not particularly damaging to the angelfish itself but can be lethal to discus
alanmin4304
Cardinals and rummy nose are good as they originate from the same place. They are all expensive but live a bit longer than some (provided you don't kill them)
mr pleco
See below, all seems to be well. 3x Large Clown Loaches 1x Syno Cat 2x Neons 5x Yellow Mollies 1x YoYo Loach 2x Discus 2x Red Lyretail swordtails personally i dont agree with the mollies nor the swords ,come from dirty water never tried yo yo loach but each to their own as said the ideal tankmates are cardinals and rummynose most corys and most plecos other tetras are better than any barbs but it can be risky ,,not saying no, but it depends on the discus and the tank setup IMO four fully devloped discus and a tank full of cardinals and rummynose is very impressive and all you need buts thats just me
