michael.qian
Ok, time to make a difficult decision. I've lost a clown loach due to the skinny disease a few weeks ago, now one of the two remaining is FAT and healthy, the other is also affected by the skinny disease but is doing fine, acting healthy, apart from being very skinny. The fat one always bullies the skinny one, everytime they see each other it'll chase the other away. So I figured I have two options here. 1. To sell them, replace them with several Pakistani loaches (Yoyo), which don't grow very big and is suitable for my size tank. 2. To keep with, in which case I'll buy 2 more, so bullying will be spread out and they'll be happier in a group. But main worry here is my tank isn't big enough, not in the long run anyway. So which one should it be? Any advice? Cheers

Casper
first question, what is skinny disease?
michael.qian
it's basically a internal parasite that makes them lose a lot of weight so they are really skinny, medicine for it isn't easy to come by. It's suppose to be contagious but no other fish, including the other clown loach, is affected, I've also seen very skinny clown loaches, otherwise healthy, in a tank with other normal weight clown loaches and they all all unaffected. David R
I'd say keep them and buy another 2-3, they're awesome fish, and you'll be so hooked by the time they get too big for your tank you will have upgraded already... Have you tried them on shrimp yet? Frozen discus tucker has garlic in it to help with internal parasites, could also try that.
evilknieval69
Keep em and get more. you cant sell a sick fish anyway, which has been said already. I have two siamese algae eaters and one of them is fat as, and the other is a skinny runt. he always eats and is always very active, but just doesnt fatten up like the other one. been like that for ages and seems fine *touchwood*
michael.qian
They are indeed awesome fish, very smart as well, I've seen many times, the fat one picking up a piece of gravel and throwing it aside, until he gets the snail under the gravel, great to watch. I put a few drops of garlic each time on the bloodworms, but if I soak the bloodworms in garlic for a long time they won't eat it.
michael.qian
was just thinking, if I get a 2 or 3 more, is there a chance they'll get internal parasites as well? I think it might not happen since all my other fish are perfectly healthy, what do you reckon though? This skinny one right now used to be the biggest and leader of the pack, but now always getting bullied by the other one.
michael.qian
went into Hollywood fish farm today and got 3 more. Was going to get 2, but they were absolutely tiny so I thought I'll be better off getting 3. BTW they have some crazy saltwater fish there I've never seen before.
