kiwiplymouth
I was just wondering if adding some of my outside pond water to my indoor tank to speed up the cycling process would be a good idea and if so what percentage of pond water should i use? alanmin4304
Goldfish carry a lot of flukes which are not normally a problem to them but can be to other fish. You may be introducing diseases you would be better off without. In my view introducing fish slowly always has been and still is the best way to cycle a tank. As you relax and sit and watch your fish you will help to develop patience.
jn
Don't do it I added a couple little pond fish to my tank and I'm still recovering from it! Adding the water would be just as bad. The other thread going where pond water is being used is to house fish that are in the pond already. I would also suggest to that person that they not try to add any other fish without doing some sort of parasite treatment. Cycling is alot easier (and cheaper) than treating a disease once you have it. (Same for river water by the way!)
kiwiplymouth
Cheers. it sound like the guy who has been giving me all this advise (a well known nelson pet shop) should not be listened to. It just goes to show that getting advise from more than one person and doing your homework can save a lot of trouble in the future.
