Fmxmatt
I spent most of the night awake thinking about how I can add some more T5's to my Juwel corner tank. This morning I've gone and purchased a decent sized acrylic sheet so I can cut it to the shape of the tank. At this stage I'm thinking of using reflectors to attach to the new acrylic cover (with spacers to try and prevent it from heating up etc) then attach the bulbs to the reflectors. This way I can keep the tank looking standard without having gaps in the covers etc. What I need to find is a T5 Ballast that I can just attach to the bulbs which "sit" there. I am thinking i'll be able to fit 2 more 34" (39W) and 2x 22" (24W) meaning 4x 34" and 2x 22" in total. This is the only thing I've found so far http://www.petplanet.co.nz/shopping/pgm ... d=291&=SID so I'd need 2 of these. Can anyone recommend the above or another option? Fmxmatt
I'll have a look tomorrow. I'm just not sure what exactly comes with it and if it will have the "brackets" that i'll be able to attach to the hood Pretty sure Critter Kingdom on Ferry Rd have one, but I bet its $100+

Fmxmatt
Does anyone know if those ballasts will work if only 1 light is fitted? I should be able to fit 2x 34" T5's, but if its too tight, 1 might be the only option (Keeping T8's at the back)
Dixon1990
for the ballast in the link you gave in original post do you just need to connect lamps, mount them to a hood and plug them in?

Fmxmatt
Sure I can get a single one, but I didn't know they existed? And yep all I gotta do is mount to the hood. I've fabricated another piece of hood that will hold another light. I think 2 lights would be pushing it as I want to run reflectors Damn these corner tanks. I love the look of it, but bloody hell the lighting is difficult! The way its designed, I cant fit 22" lamps at the very back, so I'm stuck with the 18" T8's. I've come this far though, and I want to add at least 1 more 34" lamp. If I had thought of this before I bought the first T5 ballast, then I would've done things differently LOL
Aquarium Dude
Arcrylic could heat up and sag
Fmxmatt
The stuff I bought isn't acrylic, couldn't even tell you the name of it but I told the engineering place I bought it from what the application would be, so hopefully its a bit more heat resistant
Aquarium Dude
Good, one of my old tanks had arcrylic lids and I had to keep turning it over so it didnt sag right into the water.
Fmxmatt
Could be wrong tho, it may sag, so thanks for bringing it to my attention, i'll keep an eye on it!
gills
Hi, have you tried Lamp Specialists on Stevens st by Jade, Imean AMI Stadium? They have everything you need, ballasts, caps and they know their stuff. They don't stock the 3ft t5's tho.
