kiwinana1956
i have just acquired a male siamese fighting fish and have 4 females, at what stage can I put them together? Do I need to setup a separate tank for them? I have never breed cambodian crown tails or male siamese fighting fist before. I think the male is 3/4 crowntail. I have 2 blue females and 2 whitey/brown.
Loopy
One male fighter with 4 females in a 2 foot x 1 x 1 foot planted tank should be the happiest little man in the whole world. I have basically got that set up and my boy has spawned and is working on wooing the next lady. It can depend on the individual personalities of each fish but i say try it for sure. don't worry about dividers. the female sshould get along fine together and the male will be busy getting distracted with all the girls on offer. Adrienne
If you have just acquired the male from a pet shop keep him in quarrantine for about 4 weeks, its something I would particularly recommend at the moment. After that its fine to keep them all together if you don't want to breed. You most probably won't get a spawn as they need to be in a tank as a pair. Think carefully about breeding as a spawn can end up with 0-300+ fry that need to be fed and males need to be kept seperated when they mature. I intend setting up a separate tank for them all.

Discusguru
Yes, you can put them in together. If a new tank watch the ammonia and nitrite and frequent WC
