imsweet
I have a small terracotta pot that i have chipped a side away and have it soaking in water. I just thought i'd check it was ok to go in the tank for a cave? It wont leech anything into the water will it? Should i use a plastic cup instead? Thanks. michael.qian
it'll be fine. some decoration in pet shops cost a fortune, a small cave in Hollywood fish farm was $20, just because it can be a hiding place and people will be tempted to buy it. imsweet
 Honest I was just a bit worried cause i hit it with the hammer to knock a side out so it would sit a bit better in the gravel. (rather than chocking the sides up) and there was quite a bit of 'fine crumbly dust stuff' coming off it. I filed the edges smooth too. But I soaked it and scrubbed it and now all the fish zoooooom thru it.

davidb
I think those terracotta pipes are good to use too. I smashed one up so it comes out on an angle from the gravel. My puffer likes to sit in it and watch people walk past the tank... like so:
