Tsarmina
can they live together in the same tank? my son wants some new fish for his 7th birthday. he currently has a 3ft bay window with a few convicts and he specifically asked about angels
aquab
IMO NO!!! Convicts get very aggressive and i learn this from experience!! I thought that angels being part of the cichlid family would be fine but the second that the convicts paired up that attacked and killed an angel over night!! smidey
i have a convict in my african tank & she holds her own with those fiesty critters. then again, my angels are the 2nd most aggressive fish i've had, 2nd to the giraffe. jim r
Yes, convicts prefer 7.3ph , 24c and grow to 15cm. Angels prefer 7ph , 26c and grow to 15cm. HOWEVER !! this quote from Andy Cunningham (Age of Aquariums participent), " these fish are the axe wielding, homicidal maniacs of the tropical fish world..... and I love them. If they were dogs you would have to muzzle them and license them as a dangerous breed". In my opinion I think they could be kept together if you did not breed the convicts, they tend to stay low in the tank whereas the angels tend to be middle feeders. David R
Yes, convicts prefer 7.3ph , 24c and grow to 15cm. Prefer being the operative word. In reality, if you have water somewhere between 15-30C you can keep (and probably breed) convicts. I'd suggest keeping only one sex though, otherwise they'll have a go at everything else in the tank. jim r
I also suggested not breeding the convicts (because of their aggressive nature )
