kiwinana1956
I current have a tropical tank with guppies, neons, tetras, swordtails, harleqins, & crib all in the same tank. I would like to breed the guppies and the swordtails, do they need to be in there own separate tank? btw what temperature should I set the or these tanks at? Caryl
They will breed in there whether you want them to or not  If you want to raise a fair number of fry you will need to separate the pregnant females as she and all the other fish will eat the fry as fast as she drops them  Temperature 24 - 26C is standard. Mine is actually a little lower than that at about 22 - 24C and the fish are fine.
Ianab
One of those breeding nets is probably your best option. Just pop the fattest female guppy in there with some plants or java moss and wait. When you see fry in the net, move the mother back to the main tank. Keep the fry in the net and feed them really fine crushed flakes until they are big enough that the Krib cant swallow them, then you can let them go in the main tank. Having another tank or 2 (or more) just makes things easier Temp - I agree, 25C is what I would aim for for those species. michael.qian
Yup a breeding net is a good option. I don't have one that's why my swordtail babies never make it past the 3 day mark. So far saw 5 babies in there but gone after one or two days.

So far saw 5 babies in there but gone after one or two days. I have decided to move the swordtails out so now theres just the guppies, small neons, small tetras, harlequins and the cribs.
