Silverwolf
Seems that I have aquired a major headache after purchasing 2 plants from a local well known pet shop..... POND SNAILS ! Unfortunately as much as I want loaches I have about 400 BN in my 4ft tank which to me is just a tad over populated. (if anyone is keen on a couple of them let me know). How do I get rid of these pests and where do I get the stuff from coz of course this same shop has nothing to get rid of them with. Im guessing that is a small mercy that I dont have a cansiter filter yet to increase my issues.
smidey
i would try to borrow some clown loaches for a week or two. in my community tank i had a snail infestation in my canister only, when i emptied the snails from the canister into the tank i did not see any snails 30 mins after entering. also the loud "crack" of the loaches crushing them is interesting to listen to. sharn
Other loaches will also eat snails- yoyos, golden zebras, polkadots etc. I would advise staying away from the Skunks if you choose to get a few loaches, they can be real nasty little things. jim r
Silver sharks love them (if your tank is big enough)

Ianab
Silver sharks do get BIG.. I wouldn't go that way. Clown loaches also grow big, but they take a while (years). Plenty of other loaches will stay small, Zebras will only reach about 10cm, Yoyos about 15cm, so they are much better for a community tank. Your advert in the buy / sell section. "Wanted to trade - small bucket full of Bristlenose plecos for 4 zebra loaches or near offer" Problem solved Cheers Ian
ljtan55
dwarf chain loaches eat snails too, but not as good as clowns though. They stay pretty small.
